BAR HARBOR, MAINE

MULTICULTURAL WHIMSICAL WOODLAND

SEPTEMBER 2025
THE STORY

Joanna and Josh met on Hinge in December 2022 and quickly connected over a shared love of travel and adventure. When they returned to DC, they had their first date at Maxwell Wine Bar, where everything immediately clicked and felt effortless from the start.

In March of 2024, Josh planned a meaningful day beginning at the National Gallery of Art for a Mark Rothko exhibit, followed by a walk around the National Mall, where he proposed in Chinese in a gesture honoring Joanna’s heritage.

Together they love playing games, exploring new places in and outside of DC, traveling, and sharing a lighthearted sense of humor in everyday life.

THE VISION

The couple envisioned an elevated coastal experience that embraces the natural beauty of Bar Harbor while maintaining a relaxed, fun, and adventurous atmosphere. They wanted the celebration to feel elegant yet unfussy, reflecting their personalities in a way that felt natural and easy.

It was also important to incorporate elements of their Jewish and Chinese heritage, thoughtfully blending traditions in a meaningful and harmonious way. The overall aesthetic leaned intimate, sleek, and organic, creating a refined coastal celebration grounded in place, culture, and connection.
